The exhibition, Exuberance (2023) and book Exuberance: An Embroiderer’s Perspective (2023) is a celebration of hand embroidery by 20 Australian textile artists. They share their creative processes and handy hints. The book uses the age-old colour wheel as a springboard to give stitchers the confidence to experiment in new and unique ways with thread and colour. The works of art in the book reflect a voice, a memory, a value and a story of artists today.
The artists are (from the top) Sharon Peoples (ACT), Carol Cooke (ACT), Belinda Jessup (ACT), Carolyn Sullivan (NSW), Di Ellis (VIC), Leonie Andrews (ACT), Robby Wright (NSW), Suzie Vickery (WA), Wilma Simmons (NSW), Aimee Estcourt (NSW), Amy Jones (NSW), Cathy Jack Coupland (NSW), Dijanna Cevaal (VIC), Makeda Duong (SA), Nicole Kemp (VIC), Philomena Hali (WA), Joy Scott (WA), Nichole P O’Loughlin (TAS), Liam Benson (NSW) and Liz Payne (NSW).
